Profile:Jeff Hanson is Vice President, International Consulting Services at Truven Health Analytics, an IBM Company. Truven Health provides custom solutions, software, consulting and research services to all healthcare stakeholders, including governments, hospitals, employers, health plans, researchers and pharmaceutical organizations. Mr. Hanson has specific international responsibility in areas related to the measurement of healthcare cost and quality, pay for quality, patient-centered primary care efforts, and other custom solutions efforts, currently focusing on the Gulf Region and Middle East.
Jeff has nearly 30 years of experience spanning all the various stakeholders in healthcare including governments, employers, health plans, and providers. Prior to joining Truven Health in 2005, Jeff served as a Regional Healthcare Manager of Benefits Strategy & Design at Verizon Corporation, providing health benefits to nearly 900,000 employees and families worldwide. Jeff has also represented his current and former companies as corporate representative in national forums, speaking engagements and organizational boards of directors including the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative (a U.S. organization that promotes the adoption of patient centered care delivery systems), the Leapfrog Group (a U.S. organization that collects data and reports on hospital quality and safety), and Bridges to Excellence (a U.S. Pay for Performance/Quality program) where he served as Board President.
Mr. Hanson is a familiar name and face in numerous local, regional, and national speaking engagements across the U.S. and internationally, focusing on provider performance measurement, pay for quality and payment reform, and patient-centered primary care. He has also presented on pay for performance before various groups on Capitol Hill in the U.S. In addition to speaking, Jeff is often quoted in various industry publications and news stories, capturing insight into various related healthcare issues.
Mr. Hanson holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of California at Berkeley, as well as undergraduate degrees in Business and Science from Virginia Tech.
