Sheila Burns spent 28 years in the NHS in the UK before coming to the Middle East She was the Head of Nursing for Unplanned Care and Older People’s Services in Liverpool Primary Care Trust where she was the strategic & professional lead forensuring that Supported self-care, Disease specific management, case management and end of life/palliative care was delivered locally by nurses within the organisation in line with NHS National strategies.
Sheila also worked closely with two of Liverpool’s large district general hospitals in identifying healthcare gaps and developing services to support early discharge and admission avoidance
Sheila was then offered the position as Program Director for Care Coordination in KSA where she was responsible for the improvement in patient flow, reduction in length of stay and expansion of Home Health Care Service. Most of this was delivered byredesigning the Case Management Service to develop a model that better met the requirements of the Saudi Nationals and supported the strategic priorities of the organisation
Sheila moved to the UAE in 2013 to join CCAD where her role has involved helping to set up and now manages the case management dept. She looks forward to the challenges this role brings and hopes that she, with CCAD will make a difference to patient care and patient experience.
